Acura Model Preview: 5 Fast Facts About the 2019 MDX

September 5th, 2018 by

There’s nothing more exciting for Acura enthusiasts than the unveiling of a new year’s model.

Especially when you know the latest version will have some significant updates.

Without further ado, here are five things you need to know about the 2019 Acura MDX.

1. Safety stays the same

One of the biggest pieces of news about the latest MDX is what’s NOT changing.

The AcuraWatch safety suite will continue to come standard on all trim levels.

This includes:

  • Forward collision warning.
  • Autonomous braking.
  • Lane keep assist.
  • Lane departure warning.
  • Adaptive cruise control.
  • Road departure mitigation.

2. A-Spec trim

Designed to give the MDX a sportier appearance, the optional A-Spec trim makes the tires wider, larger exhaust “finishers” (openings in the rear bumper that aren’t the actual exhaust), and a dark trim that outlines the headlights, windows, grille, and rear spoiler.

Take note – the A-Spec package only comes on the all-wheel-drive MDX.

3. Adaptive suspension

Adaptive suspension is now available on all MDX models and can include Acura’s Active Damper System.

This exciting new perk allows you to harden or soften the feel of the ride according to your preference.

4. Transmission changes

A small tweak, but noticeable nonetheless, Acura has refined the nine-speed automatic transmission so that the vehicle starts more smoothly from a complete stop.
